Sable
Sable is the most common colored sheltie. Sable puppies are dark when born, lightening up as their second coat comes in. The color of Sables change as the dog ages, darkening as it gets older. The three common types of Sables are red, golden, and mahogany.
Red Sable: Mostly reddish-brown with white and some black.
Golden Sable: Mostly a golden tan with some white and black.
Mahogany Sable: Lots of black with some brown and white. Often mistaken for tri-colors.
